Intel Modular Server

Intel® Modular Server System

This all-in-one system, built on Intel® Multi-Flex  Technology, supports six compute modules, each supporting up to two Multi-Core Intel® Xeon® 5000 sequence processors, and up to 32 GB of memory, virtualized shared storage with fourteen hot-swap hard disk drives, an integrated management module for centralized management, redundant Ethernet switches and storage controllers.

 FeatureDescription
Compact, all-in-one system Rack-mount server with a height of 6U (10.5 inches) and a depth of 28 inches (706 mm)
Configuration flexibility

Shared storage hard drive bay supporting up to fourteen (14) 2.5 inch SAS hard drives

  • Up to six (6) compute modules
  • Optional secondary I/O Ethernet switch module
  • Optional secondary storage controller
Availability

Four 1000-W power supplies in a redundant (N+1) configuration with separate power cords

  • Up to six compute modules
  • Redundant networking and storage
  • Redundant cooling
Cooling

The cooling subsystem consists of three cooling zones

  • I/O module cooling
  • Hard drives and power supplies
  • Compute modules

Each cooling zone contains dedicated hot-swap fan modules.

Each fan module contains a status LED to indicate a fan failure.

The front- and rear-accessible fan modules connect directly to the system midplane board.

The New SMB Must-Have:

Intel's Modular Server

As the SMB blade movement gains steam, you're seeing names like IBM, HP, and D...ell all jockeying for a piece of the emerging business. But sometimes it makes the most sense to go with a channel-only solution that plays to your unique, local touch strengths, especially if that channel-only play happens to have technical and value advantages not found anywhere else. When you have an SMB customer ready to consolidate present and future servers into the most compact, management-friendly form possible, check out the new Intel Modular Server.
